What is the Vehicle Simulator?
The Vehicle Simulator is the result of several months worth of software development work to satisfy my 3rd year project at University. I was given a choice on the topic and naturally it had to be game-related. At the start of the project i envisioned a system that would take real-world vehicle statistics as its input and realistically model the car's behaviour in virtual 3D space. The result was an uncompleted success, some areas like the physics model had room for improovement. The Vehicle Simulator made use of version 1.0 of the Hexngine.

Developement Progress


24/04/05 - Project Deadline
Well, i developed the engine and vehicle simulator as much as possible before the project deadline in order to submit it in time and i can now say i got some pretty good marks for it. I'm considering switching to a more rescent DirectX API like 9.0 or even checking out the OpenGL alternative but i dont think i'm going to resume developement anytime soon as i'll be working on Call of the Dragon.

I'm still contemplating however on whether to develope NeoEarth on the hexNgine in-house technology or using a 3rd party C++ engine like The Game Creators Dark SDK.

Vehicle Simulator Demo & Report Downloads
Below you can find the two versions of the simulator, both are rigged to run car simulations. The full version contains all the Microsoft Visual C++ source code, headers, workspace files etc and you require the DirectX 8.1 SDK pre-installed on your machine to compile the application. The lite version is stripped of all the bulk and includes just the necessary files required to run the executable. The report is based on the HexNgine and Vehicle Simulator and is a copy of what i submitted for my 3rd year project.
